Rugby gives young people far more than sporting skills.
It builds confidence, resilience, teamwork, discipline and leadership. It teaches players how to communicate, solve problems, support teammates and respond when things do not go to plan.
For girls in particular, rugby can provide a powerful environment to develop physical confidence, form strong friendships and discover what they are capable of.
Rugby asks players to make decisions, communicate clearly and trust themselves under pressure. Over time, players learn to back their judgement, take responsibility and become more comfortable challenging themselves. That confidence can carry well beyond the rugby field.
One of rugby’s greatest strengths is its sense of belonging. Teams bring together players with different personalities, backgrounds, strengths and experience levels, all working towards a shared goal. For many girls, the friendships and connections formed through rugby become just as important as the game itself.to every project, no matter the size.
Rugby does not ask every player to look, move or play the same way. Different positions require different strengths, whether that is speed, power, agility, decision-making, kicking, communication or tactical understanding. There is room for different body types, different personalities and different ways of contributing to the team.

Rugby is built around community.
Players become part of a network that includes teammates, coaches, volunteers, families, officials, supporters and former players.
That sense of connection can continue long after junior rugby finishes.

Rugby is not always easy, and that is part of its value. Players learn how to respond to mistakes, difficult games, injuries, selection decisions and competitive pressure. They learn that progress is rarely perfectly straight and that improvement comes from continuing to show up and work.
Leadership in rugby is not limited to the captain. Players learn to communicate, encourage teammates, solve problems and take responsibility for standards within the group. As players become more experienced, rugby can also create opportunities to mentor younger players, coach, referee and contribute to the wider community.
Rugby develops a broad range of physical abilities, including strength, speed, coordination, agility, endurance and balance.
Good coaching also teaches players how to move safely, prepare properly and understand the importance of recovery and injury prevention.
You do not need to know every rule or have years of experience before you start. Whether you are completely new to rugby, looking for a new challenge or already dreaming about pulling on a Wallaroos jersey one day, there is a place for you in the game.
